Irresponsible truckers can be a great threat, both to the organizations which employ them and to the people on the roads. Compliance with the CSA 2010 ensures that the drivers and their employers become more accountable and make constant improvements in their approach towards road safety. Under the Comprehensive Safety Analysis, inspections are conducted and both the drivers and their employers are graded according to the report based on the findings. This helps the companies and drivers alike to make the required changes to get a better grading. The grading also affects the trucking company's credibility and the driver's career and this factor drives them to perform better in order to get better grades.

A driver's skills are tested every single time a roadside inspection is conducted. If a driver fails in any one of the different skills required for the job, it results in the violation of CSA and it is measured in terms of scores or grades. The drivers and companies are graded according to the findings during the inspection. While the numbers may slightly differ when grading a driver and the company, the impact of the grading is the same for both. It acts as an alert for both drivers and companies to improve their performance in order to comply with the CSA 2010.

Grading for CSA compliance is given on the basis of findings during inspection and is forwarded to the Driver Safety Measurement System. It is calculated against the counterparts of the same class. Each driver is then given a score, the lowest being the best among the others. Each inspection can impact the scores of the driver and the number of inspections is counted as well. The drivers must ensure that they collect their copy of inspection report even if the inspection is clean. The drivers do not lose their license for non-compliance with CSA 2010, but they may be warned about the score and their employers may be prompted to take an action.

The CSA keeps a check on drivers and their employers every month as a safety measure to prevent the occurrence of any untoward incidents on roads. Trucking companies and insurers can utilize the scores given after the inspections for hiring and insurance matters. The scores given for compliance with the CSA 2010 can have a big impact on the hiring process of the trucking companies. The insurance companies will also have objections against having the trucking company insured with them if the scores are bad.

Drivers and trucking companies can be more responsible in their approach towards road safety with the help of CSA 2010. The drivers will feel the need to make constant improvements in their driving and thus increase their employability owing to better grades. Companies will make sure that they hire drivers who possess excellent grades as they would also have the chance of getting better grades during inspections. All the trucking companies would make sure that all their trucks and equipments are in good condition which would help in preventing road accidents to a great extent.
